Stanmore care home praised by national inspectors

A national care watchdog has given a care home in Stanmore its seal of approval following an unannounced inspection.

Care UK’s Woodland Hall, on Clamp Hill, was awarded an overall ‘good’ rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) as part of its two-day evaluation.

The home was assessed across safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness and leadership – with all areas being recognised as ‘good’.

The report spotlighted the positive sentiments expressed by residents and visiting professionals for the home and its team members, with one resident informing the inspectors of the caring and supportive environment.

The resident said: “The best thing here is actually the carers, who are wonderfully polite and kind.”

Relatives of residents also spoke positively about team members, with one telling inspectors: “We are so grateful to everybody here for how well they look after our relative – it’s an amazingly kind team.”

Inspectors also highlighted team members’ knowledge of residents’ preferences, wishes and individual life experiences, and how they incorporated this information into providing the best possible care. The report picked out how the team “took account of people’s strengths, abilities, aspirations, culture and unique backgrounds and protected characteristics” when planning activities, events and meals.

Laurentiu lordachescu, Home Manager at Woodland Hall, said: “Our commitment to delivering high-quality care is unwavering and we are proud to see this endorsement from the CQC. We believe that every resident deserves the best possible care and support, and this rating validates our ongoing efforts to meet and exceed these standards.

“Everyone has contributed to making Woodland Hall an unparalleled place to live and work. This ‘good’ rating stands as a testament to everyone’s dedication to brightening each resident’s day.

“I’m so proud of the team, who work so hard to make residents’ lives enjoyable and rewarding. It’s always great to hear such positive feedback from relatives and residents. I look forward to celebrating this achievement with the team and continuing to build on our success in delivering exceptional care.”

Woodland Hall has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and enable residents to live active and fulfilling lives. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, as well as short-term respite care.
