A care home in Knutsford has gone the distance for Macmillan Cancer Support, raising an impressive £1,115 through a scenic 16-mile hike.
The team at Care UK’s Cranford Grange, based on Hall Lane in Mobberley, laced up their boots and set off from Bakewell, trekking alongside crystal-clear rivers and disused railway lines.
Their route took them through breathtaking countryside views along the Pennine Bridleway and Midshires Way, all in aid of helping people living with cancer.
Back at the home, residents joined the fundraising spirit by donning green and walking laps around the grounds, adding to the final total and showing their support in stride.
All funds raised will help Macmillan to continue providing vital emotional, practical and financial support to those affected by cancer, ensuring no one faces it alone.
Dawn Williams, Customer Relations Manager at Cranford Grange, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the team who joined us on the walk. We are also grateful to residents, their relatives and everyone in the community who came together to support such a wonderful cause.
“Macmillan Cancer Support does such fantastic work for those living with and affected by cancer. We want to support our community in any way we can, and we know so many people are impacted by the disease. We wanted to contribute to the charity's remarkable efforts, enabling more people in need to receive support.
“The generosity and enthusiasm of everyone at Cranford Grange in our fundraising efforts has been heartwarming, and we look forward to continuing to support the community.”
Cranford Grange provides residential, dementia and nursing care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, the home incorporates plenty of space for leisure activities and hobbies. It boasts its own cinema, pub and hair and beauty salon, and has been configured into a series of neighbourhoods to facilitate the creation of close-knit communities and encourage interaction among the residents.
