A care home in Ferndown treated the local community to a taste of paradise with a day of Hawaiian fun.
Singing duo Jewel Harmonies performed classic hits from across the decades, with guests bopping along while sipping on refreshments provided by the home.
The residents’ competitive spirit was at an all-time high as they took part in traditional garden fair games such as hook-a-duck. Guests were also able to purchase sweet treats and fashionable accessories from stalls organised by the care home team.
Resident Ann Wrighton, 90, said: “I really enjoyed the entertainment and meeting some of our local children, however, my favourite part was squirting the water pistol at unsuspecting staff members!”
Those visiting had the chance to take a tour around Ferndown Manor, which includes a cinema, café and hair and beauty salon, to see what life is like at the home.
Sara Muslin, Home Manager at Ferndown Manor, said: “Maintaining strong relationships with the community is an important part of our ethos, and our Hawaiian-themed summer fair provided us with a wonderful opportunity to welcome the people of Ferndown into our home.
“We were delighted to see the residents and guests play games, dance and laugh all afternoon with their family and friends. It was also lovely to meet new faces and show them what life is like here at Ferndown Manor.
“We want to thank everyone who helped us host a wonderful day full of joy, fun – and hula dancing!”
